Applications to our 2021 Beginners Course are now closed. We have decided to limit the numbers of places until we find out what the social distancing rules will be in March 2021. Should anyone still wish to apply for a place I will add you to a waiting list and contact you in February.
2021 Basic Beekeeping - Six Week Course
Thank you for showing an interest in our Beginners’ Course which will be held on consecutive Saturday mornings (apart from Easter Weekend) in 2021.
DATES March 13th, March 20th, March 27th, April 10th, April 24th in classroom and proposed practical apiary visit April 17th 2021
VENUE Central Community Centre, 26, Lindum Street, Scunthorpe. DN15 6QU. From 10am to 12.00.
COST is £70.00. which includes refreshments and Associate membership of our District.
The course is intended to equip you with enough information and skills to enable you to feel confident in entering the fascinating world of beekeeping and will be limited to twelve students. It will follow the programme produced by the BBKA (British Beekeepers Association) and will be supplemented with practical tasks and an apiary visit in the session on April 25th (weather permitting).
Roger Britt and myself will lead the course aided by Teresa Graham and Jacob Stillyards.
Our District has members with a variety of experience and knowledge and we will be drawing on other members’ specialist experience as relevant to the programme. Our new District apiary is based at Hibaldstow during Spring and Summer but the apiary visit could be held at a members apiary and the date could be changed according to the weather.
You will be introduced to our District and the different support mechanisms and associations that will support you along the way. We are a District within the Lincolnshire Beekeepers Association and in turn affiliated to the National British Beekeepers Association. We also have a District Facebook page: www.facebook.com/groups/northlincsbeekeepers. You will also be welcome to attend our District meetings which are held monthly at Broughton Village Hall.
Your fee also includes Associate membership of our District.
All materials will be provided.
There is some parking at the centre or the multi storey car park is adjacent.
Tea and coffee will be provided. The centre runs a café and you can purchase additional meals outside the course time.
